The ISO Quality Management System (QMS) Team underwent a leg of refresher activities last April 4, 11, and 25 in preparation for the next cycle of Internal Audit. In a QMS Memorandum No. 2019-08 dated March 27, QMS Team Leader Dr. Leyma L. Cero released the schedule of activities to push for sustainability of QMS.
All members of the administrative council in the main campus including department chairs/unit heads, QMS Core Team, internal auditors, and members of the QMS secretariat converged at IH1 Basement Function Hall last April 4 for the first leg of this series of activities. Ms. Lolita G. Herrera, current IQA head, re-oriented the participants on ISO 9001:2015 Standard, CvSU’s ISO Journey, and what’s next on this journey.
The second leg was an Orientation on Workplace Standards held last April 11 at IH2 Conference Room. Speakers include Dr. David L. Cero, one of the members of the Core Team, who discussed the 5S of Good Housekeeping while Prof. Danielito R. Escaño, PPS Director, discussed Building Maintenance, and Dr. Leyma L. Cero on Proposed Workplace Standards aimed to provide and maintain a working environment, which will relate to quality and productivity improvement in accordance with QMS. Participants had an opportunity to critic the presented standards, gave suggestions and recommendations to come up with the final standards.
Rounding up the leg of activities was a Refresher on Auditing QMS at Hostel Tropicana last April 25 aimed at revising the existing audit checklist. Forty-five internal auditors including the newly designated and QMS secretariat were oriented on the Principles of Auditing QMS. Ms. Herrera discussed IQA Procedure including the preparation of annual audit plan, planning for the conduct of the audit, developing the audit checklist, conduct of the audit, reporting of findings, and conduct of post IQA activity.
CvSU acquired its ISO QMS certification from AJA Registrars, December 12 of last year after a rigorous preparation through a series of trainings and workshops. With this certification, the University vows to strengthen its commitment and is now preparing for internal audit in May as an offshoot of the scheduled surveillance visit of external auditors in October this year.
